John A. Cautero, born October 6, 1967 in Morristown, New Jersey, is an experienced Elder Law attorney. Mr. Cautero has been primarily practicing Elder Law for more than 6 years, and his practice encompasses estate planning, asset protection, guardianship, probate and real property.

John earned his undergraduate degree from University of Central Florida in 1991 (B A., Political Science) and achieved his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law in 1997. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in January 1998 and is admitted to practice in the United Stated District Court for the Middle District of Florida, April 1998.

Prior to establishing The Law Office of John A. Cautero, P.A., John worked as Of Counsel for the Hill Law Group, P.A., a highly respected Elder Law Firm in St. Petersburg, Florida. John's first job as an attorney was as an Assistant County Attorney for the Pasco County Attorney's Office in Pasco County, Florida. While there, John worked as legal counsel for the Board of County Commissioners as well as various committees which dealt with a variety of issues which often involved the elderly citizens. Subsequently, John worked as an associate for Abbey, Adams, et al. in St. Petersburg, Florida, in the area of defense litigation, and his litigation background has certainly bolstered his ability to advocate for the elderly and their unique issues.

John is currently a member of National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys (AFELA), Florida Bar - Elder Law Section and Real Property, Probate and Trust Section, and the St. Petersburg Bar - Probate and Guardianship Section.

Additionally, John is the Vice Chair for the Commission on Aging (COA) for the city of St. Petersburg as well as the Legislative Committee Chair for the COA. He is on the Board of Directors for the Suncoast Estate Planning Council as well as a former member of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee for the Sixth Judicial Circuit. Recently, John became a member of the Board of Directors for the Guardian Association of Pinellas County.

Personally, John is married to his lovely bride, Mary Beth and they reside with their two children, Sarah and Jac. John and Mary Beth are active in their church, and they enjoy time with family, traveling, all types of sports, and just being outdoors.
