Trenam Kemker's litigation practice has the depth and knowledge to help clients with almost any problem they may confront. Our Commercial Litigation Group is comprised of individuals from a variety of backgrounds with a substantial range of expertise and there is almost no area of commercial litigation in which we have not been involved. Our experience ranges from securities litigation to franchising and lender liability, to complicated commercial disputes involving contract, fraud and employee-raiding claims.
We assist our clients in responding to challenges in developing areas of law, including class action litigation and environmental claims and related insurance coverage issues. We take pride in assisting attorneys outside our firm in complicated litigation or in the appeal of matters we were not involved in at the trial level. In these and in many other aspects of our litigation practice, our attorneys are often called upon to speak at continuing legal education presentations and to participate in other educational activities sponsored by both bar and private groups.
Our Commercial Litigation team also assists our clients, in conjunction with lawyers in other areas of our practice, in structuring their contract and business relationships so as to avoid litigation and increase the client’s chances of prevailing where litigation is unavoidable.

Charlie Ketchey joined the firm in December 2007 in the Commercial Litigation Practice Group. He is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and Business Litigation Lawyer. Prior to joining the firm, he was a senior litigation attorney and partner in the Tampa office of Akerman Senterfitt.
Charlie’s practice focuses primarily on business litigation and trial practice. He serves as lead counsel in jury and nonjury trials, appeals, arbitrations, mediations and other dispute resolution procedures. His representation usually involves resolution of critical business disputes and claims. Charlie’s vast experience covers various industries including Agriculture, communication, construction, energy, entertainment, estates and trusts, finance, health care, including media, insurance, manufacture, media, real estate, securities and technology. His practice concentrates on problem solving from strategy and negotiation, through trial and appeal.
Charlie graduated from Wharton School of Finance and Commerce - University of Pennsylvania in 1970 with a B.S. degree. In 1974, he earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School.
He is a member of The Florida Bar, the American Bar Association and Hillsborough County Bar. He is a member of the Terrell Inn of Court, where he previously held positions on the Executive Committee and Board. He is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
