George Bedell was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1983. He has been in private practice since 2000. While in private practice, he has represented individuals and companies in a variety of criminal matters with an emphasis on white collar cases and complex crimes. He has represented clients in both Florida and federal courts. His civil cases have primarily involved suits against insurance companies for breach of contract when those companies denied the claims of his clients.
George served as an assistant state attorney in the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office for over 16 years. While an assistant state attorney, he tried over 90 felony jury trials to verdicts. He rose to the position of division chief and held that position for 9 years.
He was board certified in criminal trial law by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization in 1989. His board certification was renewed in 1994, 1999 and 2004. Board certification required that he demonstrate substantial experience in criminal trial law, pass a written examination in criminal trial law and receive a favorable evaluation of his ability and experience in criminal trial law from judges and other lawyers.
