Mr. Boyer was born in Liverpool, England; raised in Michigan; lived in California; and has resided in Pinellas County since 1975. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University in 1969 and his Juris Doctor Degree from Detroit College of Law in 1973. Mr. Boyer has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1975; California Bar since 1973; Michigan Bar since 1977; and the U.S. Supreme Court since 1979. He has attained the highest rating (“AV†rating) by Martindale-Hubbell, Inc. and is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Since 1994, Mr. Boyer has been included in the “Best Lawyers in America†publication.
Mr. Boyer was Florida Bar Board Certified in Marital and Family Law in 1985. He is a past member of the Florida Bar Association Family Law Section; served on the Executive Council; and has been the Newsletter Editor. Mr. Boyer served as past chairman of the Legislative Committee, and served as the local representative for the Florida Bar regarding legislative updates. Mr. Boyer was appointed by the Florida Bar President to the Codes and Rules of Evidence Committee, and also served as the Section Amicus Curiae Committee Chairman. Mr. Boyer formerly served on the Supreme Court Commission on Family Courts and also served on the Florida Bar Family Law Rules Committee.
Mr. Boyer became a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and has played an active role in the Florida Chapter since 1985, serving on the Board of Managers, serving as Secretary-Treasurer, Rules and Regulations Committee Chairman, Vice President, President-Elect, and President of the Florida Chapter. He was Chairman of the Sixth Annual Retreat of the Florida Chapter for which he and his late wife, Jan, hosted the event in Clearwater. Mr. Boyer served as the National Chairman of the Australian Conference Committee; The First World Congress on Family Law and Children’s Rights held in Sydney, Australia, where he was a speaker. He served on the National Newsletter Committee and the Arbitration Committee. He received his certification in arbitration from the Academy, and is also a Fellow in the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
Mr. Boyer has been a member of the Clearwater Bar Association since 1975 and served on the Board of Directors. He has served on numerous committees, including the Bench and Bar Liaison; originated the Lawyer Referral Service and Continuing Legal Education; and has been the Chairman of the Family Law Section Committee. He has also authored a monthly article of interest to family lawyers concerning cases, statues, trends and thoughts. He was the Chairman of the Clearwater Bar Association committee concerning the origination of a Family Law Division in the Sixth Judicial Circuit. Mr. Boyer served as Chair of the Grievance Committee and as a member of the Judicial Nominating Committee for the Sixth Judicial Circuit. Mr. Boyer has authored numerous articles locally, in the Florida Bar News, and the Commentator of the Florida Bar Family Law Section. He has lectured since 1975 for Continuing Legal Education programs across the state and nationally. He has also been an Adjunct Professor of Law at the St. Petersburg College and an Instructor of Domestic Relations and Litigation Practicum at the University of Florida and Stetson College of Law.
Wayne enjoys traveling, snow skiing, photography, reading and traveling on his Harley motorcycle. Wayne became a licensed airplane pilot in 1991, receiving his instrument rating in 1996.
